Anfangs positiv überrascht, aufgrund des überzeugend norwegisch klingenden ersten Liedes, das einem Intro folgt,
welches die seit Sommer 2003 aktiven vier Italiener neben 5 weiteren Kompositionen auf ihrem Erstling
präsentieren, musste ich feststellen, dass sie ihren starken Einstieg leider nicht halten können. Damit
bestätigen sie meine Erfahrung, dass nur wenige wirklich gute Black Metal-Kapellen diesem Mittelmeerland
entspringen.
Was folgt, sind nämlich zum einen sich nicht großartig in der Instrumentenarbeit unterscheidene Kompositionen,
die einen, verstärkt durch den zwar kräftig-aggressiven, jedoch viel zu einseitigen Gesang und die zu klare
Aufnahmequalität, welche zu Einbußen in puncto Atmosphäre führen, bald schon zum Abschalten animieren. Meist
keift und spielt man im gewohnten Up-Tempo-Bereich, unterlegt und bestimmt durch urtypischen Blastbeat. Jedoch
schreckt man andererseits auch nicht vor Geschwindigkeits- oder Rhythmuswechseln zurück, die den Liedern einen
leicht groovigen Flair verleihen, als auch vor von Klavier oder Gitarre vollzogenen Akustikpassagen, die wenigstens
zeitweilig für unterbrechende Abwechslung sorgen.
Die CD beinhaltet ein professionelles 4-Seiten-Booklet, das neben Photos eine ausführliche Biographie enhält und
durch ansprechendes Artwork überzeugen kann. "Remembrance dürfte letztendlich für den Großteil der Hörerschaft
jedoch weitestgehend uninteressant sein; stattdessen bleibt zu hoffen, dass Seraphel ihre Schwächen ausbauen und
beim nächsten Mal mehr überzeugen können. |

I have been positively surprised of the authentic norwegian sounding first song,
after the intro that this, in 2003 founded, italian fourpiece is presenting. But while listening to the following 5 other songs, I had
to realize that they are not able to keep the level of this song, which is another confirmation to me, that
there are less high quality Black Metal Bands to be found in this mediterranean country.
The remaining songs are more or less not much differing concerning the instrumental compositions, reinforced
through powerful and aggressive vocals and a sound that is way too clean. That leads to a loss of atmosphere
and soon to the longing for turning off your stereo. Mostly one is nagging and playing in the well known
up-tempo sphere, supported and driven by the prototype blastbeat. On the one hand the band is not scared of
changing rhythm and speed, which creates a sort of groovy aura throughout the songs and on the other there
are, built through piano und guitar, accoustic passages that, at least temporary, provide interrupted
entertainment.
The CD includes a 4-page booklet that, next to pictures, contains a detailed biography and is able to
convince through its attractive artwork. All in all "Remembrance" mostly should not be important to the
majority of the black metal community, instead there is the hope that Seraphel eradicate the weak points
that were to be found on this album and will be able to do better next time.
