Sie haben's nicht verlernt! Unglaublich! War Forsth schon eine schreckliche und vor allem schrecklich
überflüssige Band, so sind Morgart die logische Fortsetzung dieses Erbes: noch schrecklicher, noch
überflüssiger. "Die Schlacht" ist so grausam, dass man sie einfach gehört haben muss.
Schon dass alle Lieder hochtrabend "Sinfonie" heißen, ist ein klares Indiz dafür, dass die Schweizer völlig
ihren Sinn für Realität verloren haben. Der Kopf mag in den Wolken schweben, doch die Füße stehen mitten
in der Scheiße. Den kreativen Ausstoß der Band als Metal oder gar Black Metal bezeichnen zu wollen, ist ein
Witz. Gerüchten zu Folge wurden für das Album zwar Gitarren aufgenommen, zu hören bekommt man die aber
selbst über Kopfhörer nicht. Keyboards noch und nöcher sowie ein mittelmäßiges Schlagzeugprogramm bestimmen
das Geschehen, nur ab und zu gibt's etwas schwachbrüstiges Krächzen obendrauf. Und bei "Sinfonie" Nummer 3
versucht man, mich durch den albernsten Klargesang aller Zeiten zur Ausweitung der Punkteskala ins Negative
zu bewegen. Doch unter Aufbietung all meiner Willenskraft gelingt es mir, der Versuchung zu widerstehen.
Optimisten könnten jetzt natürlich der Meinung sein, meine Haltung diesem Machwerk gegenüber liege
ausschließlich an nicht zu überbrückenden Differenzen in Stilfragen, nicht an der Musik an sich. Ein
derartiger Einwand mag verständlich sein, doch ich bin der Meinung, dass selbst erklärte Keyboardfetischisten das Weite suchen, wenn sie mit dieser "Schlacht" in Berührung kommen. Denn der Inhalt des Albums, den ich
an dieser Stelle nicht "Musik" nennen möchte, lässt sich wohl am ehesten so beschreiben: die Schweizer
haben eine "Klassik"-Imitation aufgenommen und zwar keine sonderlich gute. Selbst von den übelsten
Hollywood-Soundtrack-Schinken ist man mindestens so weit entfernt wie diese wiederum von richtiger E-Musik.
Und da man außer diesen armseligen, oberflächlichen, unverzeihlich kitschigen und obendrein absolut
gescheiterten Versuchen, wirkliche Musik zu imitieren, nichts, aber auch gar nichts zu bieten hat, ist in
der Folge mein Spielraum bei der Punktevergabe eher beschränkt. |

They still know the drill! Unbelievable! Forsth was a horrible and, moreover, a horribly superfluous band to
begin with; and Morgart is the logical consequence of this heritage: even more hideous and useless. "Die
Schlacht" is so terrible that everybody should give it a listen.
Already the fact that all songs are called "symphony", proves that these Swiss guys have lost touch with
reality. Heads high in the clouds - feet planted firmly in shit. To call their creative output Metal or even
Black Metal is a joke. Rumour has it that guitars have been recorded for this album, but don't expect to hear
any, not even headphones will help. Keyboards over keyboards dominate the recording, supported by
not-too-great computer drums. Every now and then, we get to hear a weak attempt at BM vocals, and during
"symphony" No. 3, some of the silliest clear singing ever tries to convince me to extent the review scale
into the negative. It takes all my strength to resist this kind of temptation.
The optimists among you may now think that my attitude towards this piece of crap is caused by a profound
disagreement over the style of this album, and not by the music itself. Well, I do see the point there.
However, I am quite certain that even the most devoted followers of all things keyboard and "symphonic" will
re-consider their fetish after having heard this "battle". Simply because the contents of this album - which
I am not going to call "music" - is just as far from even the worst of Hollywood's cheese-scores as those are
from real music. And as there is nothing, absolutely nothing on this CD beyond poor, superficial, kitschy and
above all completely failed attempts to imitate true art, there is not a whole lot of possible grades for me
to choose from.
